L'Arte Di Fare I Cappelli

After a long and hard work period, I decided not to work and to design hats! And I took my first gift about my dream from my "Little Prince".

I like this book so much that gives me many great and new ideas about hats. If you are a hat-lover, you should put this book in your bookcase at home!

This book brings the atmosphere of the narrow & historical streets and scents of romantic & stylish shops in Firenze.

You can find types of hats and sewing technics and clues about how to make hats and beautiful photos of Italian Style hats and a terminological glossary about hats in the book.

The Designs belong to Anna Maria Nicolini. Photo: Stefano Giraldi. Pages: 110 and 69th.

Van Dogen "La Parisienne" 1904 and Anna Maria Nicolini. Photo: Stefano Giraldi. Page: 86th.
Kees van Dongen lived in Paris for several months and developed the lush colours of his Fauvist style. Van Dogen was a great painter that could understand women very well.
According to Van Dogen ' The essential thing is to elongate the women and especially to make them slim. After that it just remains to enlarge their jewels. They are ravished.'
"Painting is the most beautiful of lies."

Mostly, there were big and magnificient hats in his paintings. In my opinion, also hats embellished his great paintings. When I see the hat desing of Anna Maria in the book, I remember "La Parisienne" of Van-Dogen.
An Excerpt from Introduction of "L'Arte Di Fare I Cappelli"
“The hat, a status symbol par excelence –and there is no uniform or livery that does not include one- is conveniently worn for like any other article of clothing and as such it may have many different shapes. Sometimes, then it has a practical and protective function like in sport and at work as well as in risky and dangerous activities but the greatest satisfaction comes from wearing it for pleasure.”
“Il cappello, status-symbol per eccellenza – e non esiste divisa, montura o assisa che lo escluda- è indossato utilmente come ogni altro oggetto dell’abbigliamento e in quanto tale assume le forme più differenti. Talvolta, poi, ha funzione pratica e protettiva come nello sport e nei mestieri e nelle attività rischiose e pericolose, ma la soddisfazione più grande deriva dall’ indossarlo per piacere.”
Ah let me say smt about this book. It's published bilingual as Italiano and English. So, it is a wonderful book for me because I would like to be able to speak Italiano. This book is also my study-book for Italiano ;)
